Mrs. Edna Grey Shipp Mitchell, 93, of 2820 Isaac Weeks Rd. passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 29, at 2:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Johnny officiating. Burial will follow at the Mitchell Family Cemetery, 1577 Lamb Rd., Garland, NC.
Born in 1930 in Sampson County, Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of the late Elmond F. and Bessie Eva Hope Shipp and was the widow of John Mitchell, Jr. She was a member of Brown Baptist Church, and attended and graduated from Hall’s School.
Edna Grey is survived by two sons: Doug Mitchell (Jean) of Weldon, and Jerry Wayne Mitchell (Eldora) of Roseboro; Three daughters: Connie Mitchell Rich (E.C.) of Garland, Janet Sharpe Mitchell of Clinton, and Darlene Mitchell Heuts (Bob) of Cary; nine grandchildren: Cindy, Steve, Dean, Melinda, Randy, Lynn, Lorie, Tammy, and Elliott; Eleven great-grandchildren; Ten great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Edna Grey was preceded in death by two brothers: Wilton Shipp, and Ray Shipp; sister, Alice Shipp Cobb.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM and other times at the home of her daughter, Janet Sharpe Mitchell, 2820 Isaac Weeks Rd. Clinton, NC
