Dr. Ronald H. Honeycutt Obituary

Dr. Ronald H. Honeycutt of Clinton, North Carolina, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at Betsy Johnson Hospital in Dunn, North Carolina, at the age of 76, surrounded by loved ones at his side.

Born on April 1, 1949, in Sampson County, Dr. Honeycutt was the son of the late Jeff Lee and Mildred Pope Honeycutt. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 1971 and then from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry in 1975. Upon graduation, he returned to Clinton, where he practiced dentistry for nearly five decades, with unwavering commitment to his patients. Dr. Honeycutt was a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and served on the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners for five years, serving as president from 1996-1997.

He was an avid golfer, a voracious reader, a history enthusiast, a lifelong learner, and a man of deep faith. A local historian in his own right, he could entertain listeners with colorful accounts of local Clinton history at the prompt of, “Tell me a story, Dr. Honeycutt.”  He was an intellect and an artist, with a zest for life. He had a knack for making every day – big moments and small – a celebration.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dr. Honeycutt is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Autry Honeycutt, of the home; his sons Ronald H. Honeycutt, Jr. of Massachusetts and Jeffrey Zeke Woodside Honeycutt (Mary Kathryn) of Alexandria, VA; his daughter, Virginia Anna Honeycutt of Massachusetts and his grandson, Edward (Teddy) Ezekiel Honeycutt of Alexandria, Virginia.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection of Dr. Honeycutt will be held on Thursday. May 29 at 11:00 AM at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church with Reverend Katherine Rives officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the MacQueen Building Fellowship Hall.
