Doris Elaine (Fleming) Hollingsworth

Mrs. Doris Elaine Fleming Hollingsworth, 94, of 1064 HB Lewis Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home in Clinton, NC.

Doris was born to Charles Ogborn and Annie Glenn Cousins Fleming on August 7, 1929.  She spent her early childhood in Ringwood, NC and graduated from Aurelian Springs High School before attending Pineland College.  She was a member of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Doris’s husband, Don, was the love of her life and partner in all things over the nearly 73 years of their marriage.  They were married on April 21, 1951 in the manse of Graves Memorial Church.  Doris was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife, and accountant for the farm.  Doris and Don have one son, Dr. Keith Hollingsworth (wife, Martha) of Huntsville, Alabama.  Doris is also survived by two nieces who were very dear to her, Cathy Crawley Ellington (husband, Willis) and Glenda Hunley Gray, and by nephew Clay Crawley.  

Doris’s loving support of Don and Keith was the constant focus of her life. She was also blessed with many close friends who together comprised an extended family who greatly enriched her long life as she did theirs.  That family included her hummingbirds who she cared for and watched intently through her kitchen window every summer.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Lucille Fleming Crawley and Evelyn Fleming Land, and her brother Brandon Fleming.

The family would like to thank our caregivers and dear friends for their kind and steadfast efforts over the last two years.  

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, February 15 at 3:00 PM at the Clinton Cemetery with Rev. Katherine Rives officiating. A reception will follow in the McQueen Building of Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church.
