Mr. Don Edward Merritt, 75, of 605 Red Hill Church Rd., passed away at his home Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with his family by his side.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 20 at 3:00 PM at Colonial Heights Church with Pastor Tyler Jernigan, Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan, and Rev. Steven Lee Burnham officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
Born on January 20, 1949, in Sampson County, Don was the son of the late Lewis Benjamin and Eunice Carter Merritt. After graduating, Don spent his career in textiles as a Design Engineer. Don was a member of Colonial Heights Church.
Don is survived by his wife, Peggy Lee Johnson Merritt; two daughters: Carol Merritt Warren, and husband, Michael of Clinton, and Jane Merritt Dudley, and husband, Jason of Dunn; son; Benjamin MacLee Merritt, and wife, April of Dunn; sister, Melba Batts of Goldsboro; six grandchildren: Anna Corbin Warren, Samuel Grey Dudley, Ella Rose Dudley, Mason Cole Merritt, Reagan Grace Merritt, and Brooklyn Faith Merritt.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Robinson; and two brothers: Lewis Merritt, Jr, and Mack Merritt.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Friday, beginning at 2:00 PM at Colonial Heights and other times at his home.
