Mrs. Deborah Ann (Moore) Herring, 69, of Roseboro passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family and friends after a long and valiant battle against ALS on Wednesday evening September 13th, 2023.
Deborah was born June 18th, 1954 in Sampson County and was the daughter of the late James Pope Moore and Minnie Ruth Moore. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 48 years, David Stanley Herring, her son Christopher Herring, grandson, Ethan Herring, her two sisters Beth (Nolan) Faircloth, and Moochie Milks, niece Taylor (Jonathan) Barefoot, nephews Ryan (Jennifer) Milks and Cameron Milks, great nephews Carson Barefoot, Roman and Benjamin Milks.
Deborah deeply loved her family and friends. She was born a caregiver with a servant's heart always going and helping others any chance she could. She worked with Social Services in the Food Stamp Division for 35 years. She loved camping, visiting the mountains in the fall, and spending most weekends on the Black River. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Because to know Deborah, was to love her.
She had wonderful caregivers and friends; Ila Hobbs, Sylvia Dziedzic, Kathy Little, Kelly Carter, Erma Thornton, Lara Johnson, Debbie Tew, Lynn Sherwood and Susie York.
A very special thank you to Liberty Hospice Workers: Amanda Wright, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Kim Faircloth, Edna Murphy, and Ashley Rhodes for all the love, care, and support they gave Deborah and the family during her journey.
The family will receive friends at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church for a visitation on Sunday, September 17th at 2:00 pm; followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:00 pm, officiated by Pastor John Hobbs.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Duke ALS Clinic 932 Morreene Rd. Durham, NC 27705, or to Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church 1481 Fleet Cooper Rd. Roseboro, NC 28382.
