Mr. David Franklin "Top" Wise, 85 of Clinton passed away Saturday morning with his family by his side.
A graveside service will be held Monday April 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Clinton Cemetery with Mr. Wayne Weeks officiating.
Born on June 16, 1938, in Sampson County, David was the son of the late James Franklin and Otha Florence Tyndall Wise. He was the Widower of Mrs. Joyce Crumpler Wise. He is survived by two daughters, Melanie W. Herring and husband, Jerry of Clinton, and Wendy W. Williford and husband, Van of Newton Grove; three grandsons, Benjamin Herring and wife Christin of Wendell, Adam Herring and wife Sherry of Sanford, and Chandler Williford of Newton Grove; one great grandson, Everette Jude Herring. He was preceded in death by one brother, R. H. Wise.
David was a 1956 graduate of Clinton High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a retired plant manager with Purolator in Fayetteville. Throughout his life, he enjoyed mechanic work, especially working on his tractor, golf carts, and anything else that needed fixing. David was a member of West Clinton Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his two daughters and grandchildren where he supported them in their numerous endeavors. David was always eager to share his passion for baseball and other sports with his grandsons, often supporting them at their games and events. He also loved traveling to and spending time at their home in Myrtle Beach throughout his lifetime, where he made many memories with his family. David would always be delighted in a golf cart ride with his grandchildren or an occasional golf match with his friends at the beach.
The family will receive friends after the services at the Cemetery.
