Born on May 3, 1938 in Sampson County, Clayton was the son of the late Ransom and Ula Mae Tanner Sessoms. He was a veteran of the US Army and a former supervisor with Dixie Container in High Point, later known as PCA. He was an avid antique dealer specializing in glassware. He enjoyed going to antique sells and flea markets, buying and selling pieces of vintage antiques. He also had a passion for working in his garden, spending numerous hours growing vegetables. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially the love of his life, Clara.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Clara Johnson of the home; two step-sons, Cliff Johnson and wife, Deirdre; Wesley Johnson (Missy) both of Clinton; two brothers: Roy Sessoms of Sophia and Horace Sessoms of Clinton; four step-grandsons: Ronald Nelson, Brendan Johnson, Landon Johnson, Colton Herring; six step-granddaughters: Stacy Wilbanks, Stephanie Maness, Haley Cox, Brittany Johnson (Brittany), Samantha Padgett (Dalton) and Zoey Johnson, and several great-grandchildren. He also leaves two special friends, Pete and Beverly Sumner of Kernersville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepson, Jeff Johnson.
