Mr. Charlie Elwood Smith, 80, of 2080 Harvey Lewis Rd., passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 11 at 11:00 AM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lynn Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery, West Side Lane, Clinton, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Thursday beginning at 10:00 AM.
Born on August 15, 1943 in Sampson County, Elwood was the son of the late Charlie and Bettie Bradshaw Smith and he was the widower of Evelyn McLamb Smith. He was a retired farmer, he loved his wife and his family. He was always a giver and a helpful member of his community.
Elwood is survived by his two sons: William Elwood “Bill” Smith, and wife, Melanie of Apex, and David Robert Smith, and wife, Michelle of Faison; three grandchildren: Tyler Smith, Travis Smith, and Hannah Smith.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters: Alice Long, Edith Wilson, Ludie Waters, Ammie Cook, and Mae Smith; one brother, Rev. Bill Smith.
