Mr. Charles David Johnson, 82, of 583 Cartertown Road, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2026, with his family by his side.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held Wednesday, March 11, at 11:00 AM at Grandview Memorial Park with Dr. Rodney Hall officiating.
Born in 1943 in Sampson County, Charles was the son of the late Melton David and Leola Mae West Johnson and the widower of the love of his life, Lillie Mae Rackley Johnson. Charles was a Veteran of The United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War and later retired from the North Carolina Army National Guard after twenty years of service. He was a former Carpenter for many years and then later retired from LOF and Spectrum Glass. Charles was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and attended as his health permitted.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Anita Gail Johnson Millen (Darwin) of Clinton; son, David Leon Johnson (Sherry) of Benson; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Boyette (Howard), Austin Johnson, Samantha White Millen, Jessica Bashlor (Walter), Jennifer Burnside (Johnny), Matthew Millen (Ashton), Sarah Millen, and November Pfeil; and eleven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lillie Mae, Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Mae Ellen Raynor.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 10, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home, 301 McKoy Street, and other times at his home.
