Mr. Charles Hiram Jernigan, 88, of 76 Weeks Rd., passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 21, at 11:00 AM at Plainview PFWB Church. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Church Cemetery.

Born on May 20, 1936, in Sampson County, Charles was the son of the late Lewis Jernigan and Mary Jane Barwick Jernigan.  Mr. Jernigan worked for (Henry Vann Industries) Alcatel before his retirement.  A lifelong member of Plainview PFWB Church, Mr. Jernigan served as a deacon, treasurer, and the bass guitar player.  He was the manager of the gospel singing group “The Singing Viewmasters”.

Mr. Jernigan was married to Patricia Ann Bass Jernigan for 69 years.  He had two children; Carol Jernigan Bryant who preceded him in death and a son, Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan (Sharon); five grandchildren, Nicholas Bryant, Crystal Omara (Patrick), Jack Gunnells (Lesa), Tyler Jernigan (Carry) and Jacob Jernigan (Elvy), and 9 great-grandchildren.    

In addition to his parents and daughter, Carol,  Mr. Jernigan was preceded in death by six sisters: Media Starling, Estalene Lindsey, Christine Coble, Ludie Britt, Virginia Royal, and Doris Andrews, and five brothers: Hubert Jernigan, Maylon Jernigan, Willie Jernigan, Audie Jernigan, and Rev. Ralph Jernigan.   He was the last of the Jernigan Family to pass.

The family will receive friends at the Jernigan home, 76 Weeks Road, Clinton.
