Charles Edward Clifton, 74, of 1059 Governor Moore Rd., passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025 at UNC Johnston Health of Smithfield.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 4, at 2:00 PM at Grove Park Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathon Shattuck and Dr. Cameron Dunn officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
Born on July 4, 1951 in Sampson County, Charles was the son of the late Gibbon and Annie Quinn Clifton. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. He enjoyed showing his John Deere 2030 Tractor at antique tractor shows and taking care of his cows. He also enjoyed hanging out his barn and his “He House”. He was an outstanding farm manager with Prestage Farms for many years until his retirement in 2018.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joyce Thornton Clifton; his daughter, Lisa Britt of Clinton; granddaughters: Stormie Underwood (Brandon), Jessica Johnson (Drew); along with three great-grandsons: Gunner Underwood, Granger Underwood and Jansen Johnson; sister, Helen Ballance; brother Glenn Clifton (Linda) and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers: James Clifton, Roy Clifton, and Howard Clifton; two sisters: Doris Croom and Marie Hairr; and son-in-law, Keith Britt.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00PM until 8:00PM and other times at his home.
