Mrs. Bessie Barbara Herring Myers, 88 of 784 Bowden Rd., passed away Thursday evening December 21, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russ Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Warsaw.
Born on December 25, 1934, in Duplin County, Bessie was the special daughter of the late Leonard Marcus Herring and Lillie Daughtry Herring. Bessie was a member of Peace Baptist Church of Calypso and attended as her health permitted. She spent many years as a Nurse Aide for Bessie Jones Rest Home of Warsaw. Bessie’s smile was infectious and her love was unconditional.
Bessie is survived by her husband, Ralph Dan Myers of the home; daughter, Dianne New and husband, Chip of Mt. Olive; two sisters: Sandra Dunn of Pink Hill, and Eleanor Whitefield of Miami, Florida; three grandchildren: Chris Daw, Julie Smoke, and Holly Campbell; four great-grandchildren: Courtney Dawley, Amber Thigpen and husband, Clint, Christian Smoke, and Marissa Phipp and husband, David; and six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her husbands, Daniel Cruse, and Ben Hollingsworth.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the funeral home and other times at her home.
