Mr. Belvin James Rooks, 91, formerly of Harrells, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Register officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Born on May 5, 1930 in Sampson County, Belvin was the son of the late James Kenneth and Caralee Maynard Rooks and widower of the late, Loraine Smith Rooks. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was an electronics technician until his retirement, and very proud to serve his country. After retirement, he worked as a security guard and had greenhouses, which he took great pride in. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Belvin is survived by his daughters: Sharon Rooks Massey and husband, Doug of Garner, Rhonda Rooks Connolly and husband, Greg of Dayton, Ohio, Pamela Rooks Worley and husband, Joe of Salemburg; son, Kenneth Rooks and wife, Pam of Dunn; nine grandchildren: Christina Massey Cassel (Craig), Elizabeth Massey Palmieri (Dan), Landon Massey (Robbin), Jody Blake (Jennifer), Brandi Blake McNamara (Jason), Andrew Worley (Jourdyn), Jordan Worley Kibler (Ian), Kenneth Rooks, Jr. (Hannah), Anthony Rooks (Michelle); eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lalon Rooks Willoughby of Stedman and Nancy Rooks Rinaldi of Richmond, Virginia.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Belvin Rooks, Jr.; brother, Sam Rooks and a sister, Martha Rooks Woodward.
