Andrea "Ann" Glover Obituary

Mrs. Andrea Lee Bissette “Ann” Glover, 78, of Clinton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the DaySpring Assisted Living Facility in Wallace.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 27th at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. T.R. Miller and Dr. Ed Gunter officiating.  Burial will be held privately.

Born on February 18, 1940 in Wilson County, Ann was the daughter of the late Grover and Lilly Lee Bissette, having graduated from high school in 1958.  During her time in high school, she was also the Captain of her high school basketball team which won the State Championship and held the state record for the longest consecutive wins for many years.  She was always an avid member of her community, having received the “Outstanding Young Woman Award” with the Junior Woman’s Club, where she served as President.  She was also a 4-H Club Leader and was the District Director and Local and State of NC PTA President, having reactivated all PTA Units in the State.  After moving to Clinton, and while raising her children, she was the first appointed female to the Clinton City School Board, where she held the office of Chairperson for 10 years.  Prior to her tenure on the Clinton City School Board, she chaired a bond referendum which successfully raised 2.5 million dollars for Clinton City Schools.   Another one of her passions was crafting and she took that craft to a new level, owning a small arts & crafts business, where she taught numerous workshops and classes.  She began working at Sampson Community College in 1978, where she stayed until retirement.  She held the position of Executive Director of the Sampson Community College Foundation.  She remained active with the Foundation, even after retiring and continued her involvement with the school that she always held dear to her heart.  Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir, a beloved Sunday School teacher, a MYF Leader and a member of the Methodist Women’s Group.  She was a beloved part of her church and her community and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Tommy Delton Glover; daughter, Deborah Anne Glover Shea and husband, Timothy of Oviedo, Florida; Son, Tommy “Delton” Glover, II and wife, Laura of Clinton; four grandchildren: Savannah Shea, Trace Glover, Jackson Glover and Laura Catherine Glover.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Conner Bissette and her sister, Sue Bissette Flowers.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall; and other times at the home of her son, Delton Glover located at 201 Deer Track Drive, Clinton.  The family would like to thank the staff of Rolling Ridge Assisted Living of Newton Grove, the staff of Dayspring Assisted Living of Wallace, as well as our many friends for their many acts of kindness and loving care shown for our mother during this difficult time.
