Mr. A.D. Brown, “Dana” Jr, 84, of 202 Colonial Ave., passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 7th, at 10 AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Father Eric Grubb officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Paul's Courtyard Columbarium.
Born on June 14, 1940, in Kentucky, Dana was the son of the late A.D. Brown Sr. and Julia Eleanor Brown, and the widower of Virginia Pickett “Robin” Brown. Dana graduated from The Citadel in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and served his country in the United States Army and was a proud Veteran. Dana spent most of his professional career as a manager in retail. He was a passionate fan of college football and would spend all Saturday afternoon and evening watching as many games as he could. He also enjoyed a delicious meal and would not pass up an opportunity to go to two of his favorite restaurants, the Red Lobster and the Sandpiper with his friend David Pulley. He was also a regular at Carlie C’s and made several friends there that always made sure he was taken care of.
He is survived by his niece, Rachel Pace, and husband, John; cousins Peggy Frederick Smith and Lynn Frederick Williamson, children of Holmes Walter Frederick; and countless friends whom he considered family, especially his good friend, Kacey Register.
