Mrs. Ruby Dudley Matthis, 95 of 2910 Union School Rd., passed away Sunday, December 22nd, 2019 at Southwood Nursing Center in Clinton.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 23rd at 3:00PM at Holly Grove Christian Church with Rev. Raeford Carter, Jr.  officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Born in 1924 in Sampson County, Ruby was the daughter of the late Alda Craven and Lucille Clifton Dudley and the widow of the late Monk Matthis. She was a member of Holly Grove Christian Church. She loved music, working in her garden and preparing meals for her family.

She is survived by her brother, Wilbert Dudley of Clinton; her daughter-in-law, Mildred Matthis of Clinton; her four grandchildren: Larry Matthis, Jr. and wife, Brenda, Don Matthis and wife, Robin, Eddie Matthis and Amanda Worley and husband, Jeff; seven great-grandchildren: Kayla Matthis, Emily Warren, James Matthis III, Edwin Matthis, Jr., Amberly Howell, Madeline Murphy and Bryson Worley; nine great-great grandchildren: Reece Warren, Sumerlynn Matthis, Preston Warren, Elise Matthis, Avett Matthis, Myles Matthis, Caroline Howell, Luke Howell and Asher Murphy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her two sons: James Donald Matthis and Larry Thomas Matthis; her brother, James Lendell Dudley.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday beginning at 2:00PM at the church and other times at her grandsons’ home, Don Matthis, 2910 Union School Rd. Clinton, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holly Grove Christian Church, C/0 Pam Booth, 640 Moseley Ave. Clinton, NC.
