Peggy Anne Bailey Stancil Owen, 84, of 1100 Bass Drive, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Grove Park Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Shook officiating.
Born on February 7, 1934 in Edgecombe County, Peggy was the daughter of the late John James and Ruth Bellflower Bailey. She was a retired employee with Lundy Packing Co. and a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She loved doing puzzles, sewing and being outside, enjoying the flowers in her garden. She had a zest for life, a giving heart and a contagious smile that will forever be missed.
She is survived by her husband, William Henry “Billy” Owen of the home; her daughter, Ruth Ann Miller and husband, Neal of Clinton; son, Bob Stancil and wife, Barbara of Emerald Isle; a sister, Jean Boyd of New Bern; two stepsons: Greg Owen and wife, Melinda of Clinton and William Owen, Jr. of Durham. She was also blessed with six grandchildren: Emma and Madelyn Boyd, Abigail, Jason and Jonathan Stancil and Cathy Rochester; and two step-grandchildren: Sophia and Nikki Owen.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Leo Stancil; a son, David Stancil; two sisters: Josephine Bailey and Margaret Whitehurst and three brothers: Bill Bailey, John Bailey and Spencer Bailey.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Sunday in the church sanctuary, and other times at her home.
