Mr. Stacy Autry Obituary

Mr. Stacy Maurice Autry, 81, of 209 Park Avenue, passed away on Sunday evening, January 27, 2019 at Vidant Duplin Hospital in Kenansville.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Ammons officiating. Interment with military honors will be held later that afternoon at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Benson.

Born on June 16, 1937 in Cumberland County, Stacy was the son of the late Stacy Oates and Harriette Woodall Autry. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and a member of the NCSU Air Force ROTC for four years. Immediately following college, he went into the US Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant and moved up the ranks to Captain, working as a DOT Mechanical Engineer. After serving in the Air Force, Stacy continued his education and was just shy of receiving his Doctorate Degree in Engineering. He was a retired neuromuscular massage therapist and the owner/operator of Stacy Built Systems, having manufactured and crafted massage tables and cushions and was well known for his superior quality craftmanship.  He had many customers, from small town folks to celebrities, having made massage tables for the Wintergreen Resort in Virginia (where many Presidents have stayed over the years) and even made cushions for Elton John.  Stacy was also a member of First Baptist Church, member of the Sampson County Shrine Club and treasurer of the Clinton Rotary Club for over twenty years.

He is survived by his sister, Marie Monroe of Sumter, SC; a niece, Bethanie Monroe of Burbank, California; three nephews: Edward P. Monroe of Washington, DC, William S. Monroe of Spartanburg, SC and Brian L. Monroe of Pensacola, FL, as well as several grand-nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 10:00 am, in the church sanctuary.
