Julia Ann (Avant) Sutton

Mrs. Julia Ann Avant Sutton, 76, of 564 H.B. Lewis Rd., Clinton,  passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 18^th, at 2:00PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel, 301 McKoy St, Clinton, with Dr. Ray Ammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.

Born on August 17, 1940 in Whiteville, Julia was the daughter to the late Homer Gause Avant, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Croom Avant.  She was a homemaker all her life and a member of First Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter, Monica S. Ritenour and husband, Michael of Whiteville; her son, Stephen C. Sutton & wife, Christy of Wilmington; a brother, Hampton Avant of Whiteville; sister-in-law, Carolyn Corbett of Hampstead; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dillon Stephen Sutton and sister, Gertrude Johnson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 408 College Street, Clinton, NC 28328.
