Jaymi Melissa Huff

Jaymi Melissa Huff, 54, passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro on Friday, June 22, 2018. 

Jaymi was born in Opelika, Alabama on December 15,1963. She was raised in Pittsboro, NC as well as Asheville, Raleigh and Winston-Salem, as her father’s career path changed. She attended Woodland Baptist Christian School in Winston-Salem, where she was a good student, played basketball and other sports. She graduated in 1982, and moved on to Meredith College in Raleigh NC. Since freshmen were not allowed to have cars, she found taxi drivers who took her dad’s credit card number long before the thought of Uber. Her Dad often commented on how his credit cards could be used for a taxi back then. After the tragic loss of her father in a car accident in 1984, she transferred to Lipscomb University and shared a condo in Nashville with her brother, Alex. Jaymi and Alex also met Lori, his future wife, and the three became close. Neither of them thought that terminal illness would bring them so close again these past 12 months. Jaymi graduated from the prestigious O’More College of Design in Franklin, TN and started a remodeling and interior design business. She was a lifelong member of American Society of Interior Designers. After a few years, she decided to return to Raleigh and enter the real estate business, where she obtained both her General Contractor’s License and Real Estate Broker’s License. Until the time of her diagnosis, she ran her successful business, Huff and Company. Her continued repeat customers and success, with only word-of-mouth advertising, is a testament to her professionalism. 

She is preceded in death by her father, James William Huff of Franklin, TN. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Vines Huff of Franklin, TN and Smithfield, NC. Also surviving are her two brothers, Dr. William Alexander Huff M.D. and wife, Lori of Clinton, as well as her youngest brother, Jonathan Huff and fiancée Wendy Neuschafer of Smithfield. Nieces include Lauren and Anna Huff of Clinton, as well as Emily Neuschafer of Smithfield. Nephews include Will Huff, Jr of Clinton, Patrick Huff of Archer’s Lodge, Joseph Huff of Smithfield as well as Matthew Neuschafer of Smithfield.

A Memorial Service for Jaymi will be held Tuesday evening, June 26th at 6 pm at Royal-Hall Funeral Home of 301 McKoy St., Clinton NC 28328.

Visitation for family and friends will be held immediately following the service at the funeral home.
