Estel Davis Simmons

Mr. Estel Davis Simmons, 74, of 302 W. Arrowhead Drive, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 9th 2017 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. 

Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 12th at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Porter, Rev. Michael Shook and Dr. Ray Ammons officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery. 

Born on March 4, 1943, Estel was the son of the late Reddin Oscar and Gladys Hairr Simmons. He was a Member of Hiram Lodge #98AF&AM, a Shriner, one of the founders of the Sampson County Roadsters and a member of White Oak Baptist Church. For many years, he was the owner of Simmons Bros. Ford, Lincoln & Mercury of Clinton and most recently a partner in Simmons & Simmons Management.

Estel is survived by his wife, Christine West Simmons; his daughter, Doreen S. Smith (Eric) of Beulaville; his son, David R. Simmons (Michelle) of Clinton; sister, Vennie S. Reynolds (Shorty) of Clinton; two stepsons: Ernie Maroschak (April) of Salemburg and Curtis Maroschak (Nichole) of Autryville and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Wilbert Simmons, Harold Simmons and Robert Simmons. 

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday, from 12:30-1:45 pm, in the Chapel of the church; and other times at their home.
