Doris Pope Fryar, 69, Garland Hwy., Clinton, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Southwood Nursing & Rehab Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 863 Boney Mill Rd., Clinton, with Rev. Raeford Carter officiating.
Born on April 11, 1948, Doris was the daughter of the late Leon Augusta Pope and Dorothy Ezzell Pope. She was a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, needlework and all types of crafts. She was especially known for her “Friendship Cakes” that she gave away at Christmastime every year while she was able.
Doris is survived by her son, Douglas Allen Fryar; her sisters: Jean Corbett and husband, Larry of Wilmington and Joann Brock of Warsaw; her brother, L.A. Pope; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sherwood and Pat Fryar of Clinton, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Bass of Suffolk, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elton Douglas Fryar; and brother and sister-in-law, Earl & Elizabeth Blackburn.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, February 27th from 6-8 pm at Royal-Hall Funeral Home; and other times at the home of Sherwood and Pat Fryar, 50 Boney Mill Rd., Clinton.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Southwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as well as the nursing staff of Liberty Hospice for their excellent care and kindness shown to Mrs. Doris during her lengthy illness.
