Mr. Danny Ray Hicks, 61, of 2177 Register Sutton Rd., passed away at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Monday evening, January 29, 2018, after courageously battling cancer for two years. 

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Mercer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Spell-Tyndall Grove Cemetery, 800 Tyndall Grove Rd., Clinton.

Born on October 9, 1956 in Harnett County, Danny was the son of the late John William Hicks and Maverine Barbour Hicks.  He was a longtime employee with Butterball for thirty-five years, having drove a truck for the majority of those years, even during his illness. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Nascar racing fan.  He was a good ‘ol country boy all his life, working hard to provide for his family and never let a day pass without them knowing he loved them. 

Danny is survived by his wife, Patricia Johnson Hicks of the home; his daughter, Jennie Lanier & husband, Paul of Rose Hill; son, Dennis Hicks & wife, Brenda of Clinton; a sister, Lynda Hobbs of Roseboro and a brother, Gene Hicks of Clinton. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, January 31st from 6-8 pm at the funeral home; and other times at the home of his son, Dennis & Brenda Hicks, located at 253 Quail Drive, Clinton.
