Christopher Kent Speerli

Mr. Christopher Kent Speerli, 48, of 838 Jeremiah St, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at his home on Friday, August 10, 2018. 

Born in 1970 in Peoria, Illinois, Chris is the son of Randy Speerli and Debbie Grantham. He grew up in Cumberland County, having attended Cape Fear High School and raised his family in the area.  He had a passion for his family and loved spending time with them, especially his kids and grandkids. He was known as a prankster and always had a joke to share. Chris never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him.   

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Speerli; daughter, Kristen Louise Speerli; son, Joshua Kent Speerli & wife, Makayla; father, Randy and stepmom Beth Speerli; mother, Debbie and stepdad, Doug Grantham; maternal grandmother, Janet James; sisters: Carrie Wallum & husband, Brian; Tanya Ivey & husband, Kenny; Stepbrothers: Ricky Grantham & wife, Peggy; Doug Grantham, Jr. & wife, Jennifer; Todd Evans; stepchildren: TH Johnson & wife, Robin; Amy Batey & husband, Jimmy; Jessie Nelson & husband, James; eleven grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased in death by maternal grandfather, Edward Cassidy; Paternal grandparents: Edward and Violet Speerli; and maternal step-grandfather, Reuben James. 

The family will celebrate Chris’ life at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 17th at the home of his parents, Debbie & Doug Grantham, 3680 US Hwy 301 South, Dunn, NC. They would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who knew and loved Chris to join them in this celebration, sharing memories and laughter – just as he would want it.
