Mr. David Wayne “Day Day” Matthews, 54 of 75 Faison Ave. died at Carolina East Quinn Hospice Center in Kenansville Wednesday March 3, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Faison Cemetery.

Born in 1955 in Sampson County, Mr. Matthews was the son of the late Willie Francis and Dorothy Lane Matthews. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and an employee with the Agriculture Research Station.

He is survived by two brothers, Danny H. Matthews of Turkey and Donald Neil Matthews of Clinton, two nephews Nicholas Matthews of Clinton and Scotty Matthews of Florida, one niece Misty Wood of Maury, NC.; six great nephews, Trey Wood of Maury, NC, Brody Matthews, Casey Matthews of Florida, Jered Matthews, Dillon Matthews and Camden Matthews of Clinton and two great nieces, Natalie Matthews and Sarah Matthews of Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lynette Matthews Miracle.

The family will receive friends at Royal Hall Funeral Home Thursday from 7 till 9 PM and at other times at his home.
