Mr. Thurston Little, 97, of 1000 Lakeview Drive, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

A Memorial Service with military honors will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 408 College St with Dr. Ray Ammons and Dr. Ron Cava officiating.

Born on December 31, 1920 in Brunswick County, Thurston was the son of the late Bertha and Jesse Little and the widower of Mary Jackson Little.  He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army having served in WW II and a longtime member of First Baptist Church.  He was the principal of Tar Heel School in Tar Heel, NC for over twenty years and then retired as principal of College Street Primary School.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed carpentry work and loved nature in general.  He was an honest, kind and humble man who was respected by everyone who knew him. He had a great personality and a contagious smile. He will definitely be missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Glenda Reed (Mike) of Clayton; three sons: Bob Little of the home; Tom Grimsley (Marie) of Beverly Hills, Florida; Mickey Grimsley (Joanne) of Francisville, Louisiana; two brothers: Talmadge Little of Raleigh, Rex Little of Wilmington; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Little; his sisters: Ethel Little and Mabel Lewis; and a granddaughter, Carrie Reed.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Little’s honor by donating to First Baptist Church, or to the charity of their choice.

Royal-Hall is honored to serve the Little Family.
