Ray Nelson EzzellJune 18, 1940 ~ April 28, 2017 (age 76)
Ray Nelson Ezzell, 76, of 11351 Taylors Bridge Hwy., passed away on Friday, April 28th, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice of Wilmington.
A Memorial Service was held Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Brown officiating. A Graveside Service was held privately in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born in 1940 in New Hanover County, Ray was the son of the late James Moody and Lila Alderman Ezzell. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, and member of the 82nd Airborne, American Legion of Wallace, Hiram Lodge #98 AF & AM, York Rite of Wilmington and the Sudan Temple of New Bern. Ray spent many years with the telephone company and retired as a computer programmer.
Ray is survived by his wife: Charlotte Kroell Ezzell of the home; one daughter: Caroline Pratt and husband, Jamie of Bristol, TN.; three sons: Jeffrey Ezzell of Bristol, TN., Douglas Ezzell of Dunn and Stephen Ezzell of the home; nine grandchildren: Tanner Ezzell, Kacy Ezzell, Tessa Ezzell, Jarrett Harlan-Ezzell, Dakota Harlan-Ezzell, Jette Harlan-Ezzell, Dodge Harlan-Ezzell, Kylie Pratt and Jacob Pratt; two great-grandchildren: Carson Harlan-Ezzell & Hayden Ezzell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James A. Ezzell and his sister, Mary Ezzell Glenn.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1pm in the church sanctuary.
