Perry "Steve" King

Mr. Perry Steven (Steve) King, 69, of 301 Old US 701 Hwy, Clinton, NC passed away Sunday, November 5th 2017 at Sampson Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle against cancer.

Born on February 14, 1948 in Sampson County, Steve was the son of the late Eddis Ray King, Sr. and Lillie “Eleanor” Smith King. Steve was a member of Ingold Baptist Church and a 1967 graduate of Union High School.  After graduation he worked at the Hamilton Beach plant in Clinton and farmed. In January 1968 he was drafted into the United States Army where he served three years, including a year-long tour of duty in Vietnam.  After serving his country, he attended Ball Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee, having graduated in 1972.  He then worked for Ezzell Trucking of Harrells for twenty-eight years and worked for the Department of Transportation in Clinton for twelve years, retiring in November 2011.  He was involved in agriculture his entire life, which is what he continued to do after his retirement. 

Steve is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Imogene Lane Blackburn King; two sons: Brentley Steven King of Ingold; Ron Blackburn (Patricia) of Willow Springs; daughter, Kimela Blackburn Fortner (Mike) of Raleigh; six grandchildren: Ronnie, Savannah and Hunter Blackburn, Hannah, Leah and Caleb Fortner; four sisters: Donna Britt (John) of Wilmington; Elaine Langley of Belmont; Linda Watkins of Durham and Teresa Lamb (Ron) of Alexander City, Alabama; three brothers: Ray King of Ingold, Michael King (Carey) of Portland, Oregon; and Stanley King (Theresa) of Folsom, Louisiana.  

The family will receive friends Friday, November 10th 2017 from 6 until 8PM at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral Service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 11th 2017 at 1:00 pm at Ingold Community Cemetery with Rev. Danny Johnson, Rev. Byron Bass and Dr. Ray Ammons officiating.
