Sanford

Mrs. Leatrice Sutton Spell, 91 of 2702 Farrell Rd., (Formerly of Clinton) passed away peacefully on Saturday January 14th, 2017 at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation Center in Sanford, NC following a lengthy illness.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 16th, at 2:00 PM at Keener United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6415 Keener Rd. Clinton, NC. with Rev. Leanne Calhoun officiating.

Born in 1925 in Sampson County, Leatrice was the second of ten children born to the late Harvey Monk and Betty Pearl Vann Sutton. She graduated from Piney Grove School and eventually embarked on a thirty plus year career as a Floral designer with Parker’s florist, Jewell’s florist & gifts and Clinton quality florist. Leatrice had a passion for gardening and loved being with her family. She was a long-standing member of Keener United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the time they spent together as a church family.

Leatrice is survived by her daughter, Debbie Britt Tuten and husband, James of Sanford; her beloved granddaughter, Amanda Tuten Roberts and her two adored great-grandchildren Grayson James and Rebecca Britt Roberts all of Garner. Also, Leatrice is survived by two sisters and a brother, Gaynelle Sutton Shipp and husband, Melvin Allen of Clinton, Patricia Sutton Malpass and husband, Bob of High Point and Billy Sutton and wife, Janet of Clinton.

In addition to her parents, Leatrice was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Britt, second husband, D.O. Lindsay and her third husband, James Spell, five brothers, Lynwood, Ambert, Harvey, Odis and Raven Sutton and her sister Elizabeth Normile.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.  A special thanks to the dedicated staff of Sanford Health and Rehabilitation, Liberty Sanford Hospice and Southwood Nursing and Retirement Center of Clinton for the many acts kindness and service they expressed.
