Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, October 24, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelvin Blackman officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memorial Park.

Shearl was born on September 9, 1938 in Sampson County to the late Leamon and Pearl Smith Thompson. He was a member of Roanoke Chapel Pentecostal FWB Church and a retired contractor with Davidson & Jones Construction Company. He enjoyed being outside, loved to fish and spending time with his dog, Roxie.  Just about every morning, you could find him at McDonald’s for breakfast, where he spent time with his friends catching up on the news and happenings around town.  He will definitely be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by three daughters: Phyllis T. Lee of Newton Grove; Catrina Dowdy and husband, Derby of Erwin; Debbie Gutierrez and husband, Tony of Four Oaks; a sister, Marie Tyndall and husband, Nelson of Clinton; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Wilmouth Thompson; his sister, Ellen Player and a daughter, Teresa Ortiz.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, beginning at 2pm, at the funeral home; and other times at the home of his sister, Marie Tyndall, 239 Beaver Dam Rd., Clinton.
