LILLIAN PEARL (BRITT) THORNTON

Mrs. Lillian Britt Thornton, 96, of 4443 Basstown Rd, passed away at Mary Gran Nursing Center on Tuesday, August 16th 2016.

A Graveside Service for Mrs. Lillian will be held Thursday, August 18th at 11:00 am at Grandview Memorial Park with Rev. Leanne Calhoun officiating. 

Born in 1919 in Sampson County, Mrs. Lillian was the daughter of the late Samuel Nathan and Elma Britt. She was a clerical employee with the NC State Department for many years and a member of Keener United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four cousins, Norma Gray Lee and Annelle Britt Lane of Clinton, Patty Herring of New Bern and James Wilson of Lexington.  She was blessed with wonderful caregivers and extended family who will miss her, especially her witty sense of humor.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Thornton and her cousin, Charles Wilson.

The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers: Barbara Norris, Mary Avery, Tameka Leach, Shaniqua Bowden, Carolyn Millen, Yolanda Pearsall, Kizzie Oates and Sue Mitchell. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00, at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.
