Edna (Smith) Boyette

Mrs. Edna Smith Boyette, 93, passed away peacefully on the first day of January, 2018 at Southwood Nursing & Retirement Center, with her family by her side. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Carr Memorial Christian Church, 9688 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton with Rev. Penny Ziemer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Hobbton Hwy., Newton Grove.

Born on August 28, 1924 in Sampson County, Mrs. Edna was the daughter of the late Sallie Jackson and Dock Ed Smith, and the widow to Payton Howard Boyette.  She was a retired employee with the Sampson County School System and a member of Carr Memorial Christian Church.  She had a passion for cooking, especially cakes and pies and also enjoyed making quilts.  She loved her family and friends dearly and will be greatly missed. 

Mrs. Edna is survived by her three loving children: daughters, Betty Simmons (J.W.) and Sherry Tyner (Nickie) and son, Gary Boyette (Debbie), all of Clinton.  She was also blessed with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom she adored. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1pm, in the Church Fellowship Hall; and other times at the home of her niece, Barbara Gray, 3188 Hunter Rd., Clinton. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edna Boyette Memorial Fund, Carr Memorial Christian Church c/o Jane Brewer, 1801 Panhandle Rd., Faison, NC  28341.
