Mr. A. Brewer Jackson, 88, of 11210 Dunn Rd., passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife of 62 ½ years and special family members.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 27th 2016 at 11:00 am, at Harnett Primitive Baptist Church, Harnett Church Rd., Roseboro, NC with Elder Brant Blackburn and Rev. Allen West officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born on April 6, 1928 in the Clement Community of Sampson County, Brewer was a son of the late Fuller and Ila Jackson. As a young child, Brewer roamed the fields and woodland of the family farm, enjoyed swimming in the little stream that later became known as “Fuller’s Pond” - which were the same waters he was baptized in 1962. He was a graduate of Clement High School in 1944, a Veteran of the US Air Force where he served his country in active duty during the Korean War. He was a member of Harnett Primitive Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Clerk and Treasurer and also on the church Building, Grounds & Cemetery Committee. He served the Seven Mile Association as Clerk and Treasurer, and also served on the board of the Clement Volunteer Fire Department. Brewer was employed as a surveyor for the NC Department of Transportation for a year, but returned to the family farm – staying connected to the soil he so loved by farming, raising cattle and bee-keeping. He was employed by the USDA, Sampson County Office for 34 years. He served on the township and county committees and was a field supervisor, marketing recorder and Assistant CEO.

Brewer is survived by the love of his life for over 62 years, Dorothy Pope Jackson; his sister, Jean Honeycutt of Autryville; his brother, Don M. Jackson and wife, Linda of Warner Robins, Georgia; and special family members, Jeff and Tammy Jackson. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Autry and brother, Bertrand Jackson.
Special thanks to Community Health Care, Carrie Jean Autry, Michelle Penny, Ernest Williams, Kenneth Williams and Brent & Michelle Westbrook.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, June 26th at Royal-Hall Funeral Home, from 6-8 pm and other times at their home.
